Celebrating 20 Years of the Landon Pearson Centre
Through our expertise in human rights and our pioneering work in children’s and young people’s participation, the Landon Pearson Centre for the Study of Childhood and Children’s Rights is committed to improving the lives of children and youth and promoting awareness and understanding of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Our vision is to build a society where every young person flourishes, their human rights are respected and upheld, their voices and perspectives are heard, and where their insights shape the decisions and actions of adults in creating sustainable, meaningful change.
Founded in 2006, by the Honourable Landon Pearson founded, we are Canada’s only children’s rights centre.

- Provides 1000’s of youth across Canada opportunities like Shaking the Movers (STM), a uniquely designed annual, youth-led workshop series that takes place in different regions in Canada, in English and French and from coast to coast to coast. The workshops provide children and youth with an opportunity to exercise their right to engage in important civil and political processes with the assurance that their voices will be listened to and heard by adult decision-makers.
- Provides travel grants to bring together young people and early career researchers to the Child Rights Academic Network (CRAN), an international network of children’s rights professionals dedicated to improving the world for children and young people through work in education, policy, advocacy, programming and practice.
