The Collections Fund for the MacOdrum Library supports the acquisition of up-to-date and relevant resources, ensuring students have access to a variety of materials throughout their studies at Carleton. Enhanced library collections are central to supporting quality research, teaching, and learning at Carleton.
The current list of priority acquisitions for the MacOdrum Library includes:
- MULTI-DISCIPLINARY JOURNAL ARCHIVES: The purchase of journal archives helps fill gaps in the Library’s collection and offers a more comprehensive resource for patrons. Investing in journal backfiles supports long-term access to academic content for future generations. These collections support students with research in a range of areas including science, medical, business, humanities and social sciences.
- COLLECTIONS: The Library strives to build a diverse collection that enriches students’ learning by providing access to key sources in their fields of study and supporting their research. This includes primary sources and historical archives, research tools and databases which do not require an ongoing subscription fee. Current priority items include SpringerProtocols, Sage Research Methods updated collections, SPIE Digital Library Archive and British Online Archive series: Governing Africa 1808-1995.
- OXFORD BIBILIOGRAPHIES: Oxford Bibliographies are an authoritative guide to the current scholarship in various disciplines, containing original commentary and annotations curated by subject experts. The Library is seeking to expand our existing collection of bibliographies to include subject guides for African Studies, Geography, and Social Work, among others.
- EBOOK PACKAGES: The Library is currently bolstering its digital collections through the acquisition of front list eBook packages from academic presses, Oxford Handbooks, Cambridge Companions and Cambridge Histories.
