Overview
Founded in 1995, the Carleton Ravens Open Ultimate Frisbee Team has been a long standing club sports team at Carleton. As a club team we have been providing students the opportunity to develop leadership skills, make social connections outside the classroom, and stay active throughout the school year. As a student-managed club, athletes have stepped into leadership roles to keep the club running year after year. The club is dedicated to providing a friendly and competitive atmosphere that promotes both physical and mental health amongst athletes.
With your generosity, we can help ease the costs of participation as we continue to expand our club. The funds raised will contribute towards new equipment and the travel costs of away games. Your donation will be instrumental in elevating the club’s level of competition and growing participation in future years.
The Background
Ultimate frisbee is a sport that encourages the mental and physical development of players, allowing them to develop skills and build friendships that will last a lifetime. In a world where students spend more time than ever indoors looking at screens, university level ultimate frisbee keeps students active and outside. It also teaches players to work in teams and allows them to build vital collaboration skills.
One of the founding principles of ultimate frisbee is “spirit of the game”. This is the idea that, although games should be highly competitive, this should never get in the way of our ability to treat each other with fairness and respect. The game is self-officiated and teaches players the importance of respect and co-operation between both teammates and competitors.
By donating to the Carleton University Open Ultimate team, you are giving students the opportunity to be a part of this environment and to build and develop skills that they will keep with them forever.
The Rollout
Funds will be used to purchase new equipment, pay for coaches’ expenses, cover tournament fees, and reduce athletes’ season fees.
