Overview
Founded in 2016 as a student club, the Ravens Men’s Rugby Team has experienced tremendous growth. Following two successful seasons as a student club, the Ravens Men’s Rugby Team was recognized by the Carleton University Athletics department as a competitive club in 2018. Under student management and the leadership of Head Coach LeeAnn Napiorkowski, the team has grown in both membership and in competitiveness. Between 2018 and 2020, the team posted an 11-1 record and claimed back-to-back Scholar’s League titles. The team then went on to have a successful season of growth post-COVID-19. After proven success and development year after year, the Men’s Rugby Team has been able to move up and into the RSEQ where they now compete against varsity-calibre men’s programs.
Since joining the RSEQ league in 2022, the team has gone through restructuring and adaptation to the new league. The competition has been tough so far but the grind and spirit of the team has not been broken. Now being lead by Coach Matthew Bouchard, the team has turned a new leaf and has since had great improvements so far. We are just getting started.
The Background
Funds raised through this campaign will go directly towards subsidizing the growth of the Ravens Men’s Rugby Program over the next few years. It is important to us that rugby be inclusive to all those who wish to play, regardless of the financial barriers.
The Rollout
Most specifically, this fund will go towards minimizing the cost of play for the students that make up our club as well as subsidize the cost of new equipment, field rentals, and travel expenses. With the end goal of reaching Nationals, this funding will go a long way in securing the future of the club.
